I’m a boss. Sometimes I have good days, and sometimes I have bad days. The energy of winning a deal or doing something uber creative sends me to the moon and when there are setbacks or I’m thinking about the weekend, I am quite possibly on ‘go slow’. You can imagine then, why I see ‘quiet quitting’ as just another marketing term for people to ignore and move on from.

With the recent lockdown in Melbourne, our Marketing Eye office has utilised the time to do an office renovation. There have been many reasons for this, but mostly because no-one is in the office for 6 entire weeks and it is the perfect opportunity to not only rethink our business but also the environment where we work.

It is no question that the complexity of today’s marketplace requires innovation. No more can we rely on the same ideas that have given us success in the past. Research suggests that 80% of people believe harnessing creativity would generate economic growth; while only 25% of those feel they are actually living up to their creative potential.

Running businesses can be incredibly hard, well at least I think so. It takes a tough person to go through all the challenges that you are faced with from a day-to-day basis and just when you think you have nailed it, something else comes up and remind you that you haven't.

Losing jobs to technology is really nothing new if you think about it – even when humans haven’t been totally overrun they have learned to adapt to technology and machinery to become more efficient and accurate in what they do.

With continued advances in artificial intelligence, technology and robotics, businesses will need to stop and rethink their approach to getting the job done in the most competitive manner.

Businesses are having to transform their training models and methods, reevaluate their hiring practices, reconsider their organisational structure and transform their job descriptions.
