How to create ‘wow’ factor this Mother’s Day
I don’t know about you, but Mother’s Day has crept up really fast and without even realising it, I don’t have a gift.
In a panic, I googled ‘best Mother’s Day gifts’ and to my shock (and horror), there was nothing interesting that would show my mother just how much she means to me.

Thinking outside the box is hard when you have a pressing deadline. I am in marketing and deadlines are the norm, but you never get use to them.
If google isn’t going to give me the best possible idea for my mother, who is? Quite simply, I just rang a few friends and what was most interesting is that their mothers just love a good meal with family to celebrate the day.
The reason she hates flowers is that when they are received, they are then put in a vase and depending on where you fall in the pecking order for Mother’s Day, they may last a day or a week. The latter seems to be rare in her case.
Which leads me back to my conversation with friends. What can my mother eat that makes her feel as special as she may feel when she gets a bunch of flowers, before it kicks in that she has to do something with them.
Little Cup Cakes, Melbourne. Seriously, the answer to my prayers! Firstly, they come highly recommended, and secondly, they had a great Google Review with 97% 5 stars.
But as a marketer, what impressed me most is that they took the take on giving flowers and turned it into a piece of art, in the shape of a flower bouquet. Literally, 25 cupcakes, deliciously baked into this really amazing piece of art.
Don't leave Mother's Day to the last minute
Their website is easy to use, so booking in a cupcake bouquet from Little Cupcakes in Melbourne was fast and simple.
Which had me thinking, “why are we buying from the Amazon’s and international companies of the world when small businesses have done it so tough”.
I’m truly glad to be supporting a local Melbourne company that has been largely closed down due to COVID and could do with the community rallying behind them.
I urge you to book cupcakes from Melbourne’s own, Little Cupcakes, and support local business. They even have gluten free – so there is no excuse!
Other Mother's Day ideas that are great (but not as yummy):

My mum hates flowers
On top of that, my girlfriend said to me, “my mum hates flowers”. That was quite astonishing to me because I thought it was the most obvious go-to – a safe option. The reason she hates flowers is that when they are received, they are then put in a vase and depending on where you fall in the pecking order for Mother’s Day, they may last a day or a week.
