My Internship Experience at Marketing Eye
As a business student with a growing love for marketing, I knew that internships played a crucial role in developing practical skills and gaining industry experience. Being able to apply my knowledge in a real-life setting was also very important to me as it gave me insightful knowledge on what to potentially expect at future roles. Therefore, when I got the opportunity to become an intern at Marketing Eye, although I was quite nervous, I was also very excited to dive into the world of marketing.
During my six-week internship at the company, I worked as a marketing intern for two days a week, where I was responsible for various tasks, including creating blogs, developing social media calendars, scheduling posts on Hootsuite and helping format email marketing campaigns.
Creating Blogs to Be Published on the Website
One of my main tasks at Marketing Eye was to create blogs that would be published on either the Australian or US Marketing Eye website or Robotic Marketer. This was an excellent opportunity for me to develop my writing skills, learn how to write effective blogs that would engage readers as well as learning about marketing topics through the content that I was writing.
Initially, I found it challenging to write about topics I did not have extensive knowledge about. However, with guidance from the team and being given keywords to focus on, it was a lot easier for me to be able to write compelling blogs that were informative and engaging throughout my internship.
The process of creating blogs involved conducting research, writing the content, editing and formatting the blog for publishing. It was a fun process, but it was also a great learning experience that taught me the importance of attention to detail and the need to write for the readers.
Coming Up with social media Calendars for Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn
My favourite task that I thoroughly enjoyed was developing social media calendars for Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Social media plays a vital role in today's marketing world, and it was exciting to learn how to create a social media content.
My role in creating the social media calendars involved identifying relevant and engaging content and scheduling the posts on Hootsuite. It was a great opportunity to develop my creativity skills and learn how to content that would capture the audience's attention whilst following certain guidelines such as sticking to the Twitter character count and including a minimum number of hashtags.
Scheduling Posts on Hootsuite
Scheduling posts on Hootsuite for both clients and Marketing Eye itself was another task that I completed during my internship. Hootsuite is a social media management platform that enables users to manage multiple social media accounts from one dashboard.
My role in scheduling posts on Hootsuite involved selecting the content that would be published, writing captions and scheduling the posts at optimal times for maximum engagement. It was a great learning experience that taught me the importance of timing and the need to create content that would resonate with the target audience.
Managing the Email Marketing Campaign
Another task that I had small experience in was formatting the email marketing for a client. Email marketing is an essential part of any marketing strategy, and it was great to learn how to create effective email campaigns.
My role was to follow the email templates and write the content. It was a great opportunity to learn how to use email marketing tools and develop skills in email marketing strategy.

What I Didn't Enjoy About My Internship
While I enjoyed my internship at Marketing Eye, there were some aspects of the experience that I struggled with.
One of the challenges that I faced during my internship was the time I was spending on each task. As an intern, I was responsible for completing various tasks, and at times, it felt overwhelming as I found that I was spending too much time on the one task to make sure I perfect it. However, with time management and prioritisation, I found towards the end of my internship, I was able to complete all my tasks in the recommended time frame and deliver quality work.
Another aspect that I found challenging was adapting to the company's work culture. Marketing Eye is a fast-paced environment, and it took me some time to adjust to the pace and expectations. However, with the support of my colleagues, I was able to adapt to the work culture a little more.
