485 Malvern gives graphic designers and graffiti artists a platform to express themselves
As a person who is mindful of how important design is to the overall look and feel, I decided that given the numbers 485 add up to 8, that it was in fact a lucky number for so many reasons. Anyway, like any entrepreneur who tends to go overboard with overthinking things, I decided to start another brand for publishing creatives work by the name "485 Malvern".
This is where it gets terribly exciting! There is nothing better than having design books on your coffee table, in your office or on the book shelves, so I have decided to invite 100 graphic designers and graffiti artists to participate in a book series "485 Malvern" that showcases their favourite designs and a bio of the graphic designer or artist. Now these books are popular and have been on the shelves for years, but I feel we are missing the the benefit of coffee table books that are beautifully designed for everyone to enjoy.
They also usually cost an arm and a leg, so rather than make it hard to buy, I invite graphic designers to participate for a contribution of $250. This will give them 5 copies of the book each, as well as distribution of the book in places throughout Australia and in select bookstores.
Imagine having your work published and being able to go to a job interview with your book in hand? Or giving one to Mom for Xmas! It's something I would like and I am sure many others in the world that love design would appreciate too.

26 Sep 2018It is extremely important to be aware of one’s place in a certain location. How best to not only fit in, but promote those around them. The initiative discussed in this blog elegantly does both by shifting the atmosphere of the place with a new name of 485 Malvern and rather than buying just any coffee table book, 485 Malvern came up with a creative alternative. The blog puts ideas in a potential artist’s head of what they could do with their own book which can convince people who were previously on the fence to submit their work. This benefits both sides as 485 Malvern acquires cheaper unique art that fits their atmosphere and the artist gets an outlet and published books.

26 Sep 2018I think this is a great idea for a book. It is a rare opportunity for so many different artists all to come together and work on one final product. This is the kind of book that everyone can find some sort of enjoyment in, whether it be simply looking at the different designs or actually looking into the bios of all the different artists. I’m sure many people would enjoy this as a coffee table book.

20 Sep 2018One of my best friends is a graphic designer; what a fantastic opportunity! I will pass this information on to him. I know his mother in particular would love to see his work in a published book.
