How to make "yourself" more successful
But you can...here's how.
Don't aim to be successful for anyone else - but you
Many people seek to be successful because they are trying to impress others or get approval. This is a sureway to not only hinder your ability to be successful, but hold you back from truly enjoying the moments that come with it. It will never be as you expected or want if you do it for someone else.
No defined goals in place
If you don't have a plan in place, you are almost certain to fail. Setting goals and working out exactly what work needs to be done to achieve them is paramount. There would be no business plan or marketing strategy required if this was not the case, so similar to running a business, have a personal plan and goal setting session with yourself and write it down. If you write it down you are more likely to achieve that goal. Fact!
Self-doubt is a killer
If you don't believe in yourself, you are going to have a hard time following through on your goals. Our mind is our biggest challenge when achieving a goal and without doing the work in ensuring it is in tip top shape, you may find yourself stuck at the starting block. The reality is that you can achieve anything you set your mind to, but it does take work and it doesn't just miraculously happen.
Surround yourself with other go-getters
If you surround yourself with successful people with a positive attitude, chances are you too will have one. Successful people often surround themselves with others who they admire, respect and can learn from. Don't be afraid to build a tight knit community of successful people that push you up and continually hold you to account.
Discipline is key
Procrastination is the quicksand of accomplishment. I know. I've been there like everyone else and I still go there, but the trick is to figure out what procrastination looks like to you and identify when you are procrastinating so you can do something about it. If you are distracted, your goals are sidelined. Having discipline requires you to do things that you don't enjoy at times that you may prefer to do something else (like go to the fridge). Discipline is key to success so you need to know when you are procrastinating and putting things off, making excuses and not getting on with the job at hand.
Being afraid to get out of your comfort zone
Who wants to leave the house when you don't have to? (That's an introvert talking). The reality is that we all like to stay comfortable but being in this zone won't make you more successful. If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got. There is a reason that this saying is so prelevant in discussions around success. Push yourself and have other hold you to account. Be around people who live outside their comfort zone so you know what that looks like.
80% is more than ok
As a Virgo, I'm a perfectionist but early on in my career I realized that being a perfectionist makes you sit on an island all by yourself and you can't go past that island because no-one can do things just like you. Letting go and realizing that for most, 80% is ok, helps you grow in more ways than one.
