Why do 99% of the business cards I receive still not have any links to social media?
Business to business marketers are still falling short of connecting with their clients and prospects at every opportunity and it seems completely ridiculous that they still don't have links to LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs and Facebook, displayed on their business cards for everyone to see and connect with.
As an international business, Marketing Eye even has skype addresses on our business cards. It really is a no-brainer.
"We don't want to over-clutter our business card," I have been told by one small business owner.
"Really?" is the only reply I am muster up when someone says this.
"Then delete your address. Who cares where you are located these days. People are more interested in how they can contact and connect with you, not where your office may be or your postal address. Leave that for your website."

While I agree that business cards should carry social network information, I think it's important to also give the physical address of the business. It helps the company look professional, even if it's just a PO box address.
I agree with this completely. The argument of not wanting to 'clutter' their business cards is flawed. People do not want to be overloaded with words and quotes, they DO want to know how to get in contact with the company.
Social media is the fastest way to communicate nowadays and, quite rightly, they can get rid of their addresses. These can be found on the websites anyway.
I do agree that Business cards now days should include a link to social media sites. Not only does it give the impression that the business isn't up to date with technology and social trends but it also limits opportunities for the business as consumers have less access to information about the company. With smart phones dominating the market it is detrimental not to have social media links on a business card as consumers would be able to look up the company anywhere at anytime which gives the opportunity to create an instant relationship. Without the social media links relationships are formed a lot slower and may not even be formed as the consumer may forget to contact the company as more important things come up in life. To stay competitive companies need to adapt to social trends and that includes social media links being on business cards.
