Decisions, Decisions, Decisions - What To Do Next
I am a strong believer in mentorship and listening to others. One of my mentors is the best in Australia. I can only "brag" about my luck at having him to bounce ideas off and, in return, to listen to how it is without filter.
Mentors need to be strong, experienced, clear and have insight into things that perhaps you do not. They cannot just be "yes" people or tell you constantly what you want to hear.
I am forever in debt to mentors that I have had in my life, and if I listed them, and you are an entrepreneur in Australia, you would definitely think I was bragging big time.
What I love most is when they pull me into line. If they don't, who will? If I am not accountable to anyone at anytime, I am living in a world where I would for one - make more mistakes, but secondly be a very different person. And quite frankly, I quite like the person I am.
My business is building on each of its strengths. I keep growing as an entrepreneur and my business keeps expanding, building upon its already substantial base and delivering on outcomes.
What challenges me is that I am an entrepreneur with lots of great ideas. Sometimes I have to be reeled in and yesterday, that is exactly what happened. I was reeled in. Where will I make my biggest impact and how can I achieve all my goals without diluting my own time and ability to give projects the effort they require to be successful.
My goals are simple:
Marketing Eye: My bread and butter, and my absolute passion needs my full attention, and expansion is going full steam ahead. Watch Marketing Eye open 10 company-owned offices in the US over the next 12 months - that's the aim anyway. Our formula works and now it's time to put this business on steriods. I can't wait to see where my business heads in the next few years, but it had better result in 1000 clients so I can tick off that goal off my list. We are syndicating our magazine, selling our technology to other marketing companies and delivering more education to more marketers worldwide. Exciting times ahead.
The World Incubator: Very important to who I am and where I came from. Kindness is everything. So many people forget to be kind. This is not only an extention of being kind, it is about putting something that is important to thousands of other people ahead of my own wants and desires. It's about putting something else first and giving to people that may end up having life-changing experiences. The World Incubator will be creating jobs and opportunities for people in a town where they need a new lease of life, with entrepreneurship being the most obvious career for those who are unsure of what they will do with so many limited job opportunities.
Technology: Pass it on to the people who know best. Take a smaller piece of a bigger pie and let the professionals take the business to the next level. I can't be everything to everyone. I want to be involved but I know that the best people to do the job are not sitting in my seat or around me. They are global, innovative, self-starters who want to be in a "Google-like" company. It gives me shivers when I think about what this technology can do and how disruptive it will be to a number of industries.
Personally: Life is about loving everything you do and the people around you. I am incredibly excited for the journey that lays ahead.
