Having the ride of my life : Mellissah Smith
I didn't hesitate, as I know that if someone who works hard does exercise, they perform better and more efficiently than those who do not. Once the dollars and cents worked out, I was completely onboard.
The problem was that we were both in Atlanta, and if one chose to do something, the other usually followed suit. Afterall, there is no point in riding by yourself all the time, as it could be quite lonely and in some cases particularly in a city like Atlanta, dangerous.
We went down to the Specialized dealer on Peachtree Road, and picked out two bikes. Me being me, wanted the best that they had, so I bought this expensive, very light Specialized Ruby.
Then of course I needed all the accessories to go with it; gloves, glasses, shoes, and clothing. The problem was that the store only had one choice of clothing for me so I had to buy a colour that I don't particularly love, just because it was the only thing I could buy. Let me assure you that when it comes to cycling, this doesn't feel good, simply because everything is so darn expensive.
In the following weeks I went into a number of stores looking for women's cycling gear. I found nothing. Zip! Clearly there are few brands catering for women. While I realise that women are in the minority, I am also aware of what a growing market women cycling is.
After tiring of washing my cycling gear and putting it in the harsh dryer every day, I gave up. Yes, I put the bike away. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Then... things changed. A company rang to speak to me about marketing. They have a Italian cycling fashion brand that is high-end, quality and ideal for anyone who wants to be serious about cycling. As I looked through A'qto Cycling's range, I was pleasantly surprised at how fashion-forward it is, but at the same time technical.
For anyone who knows cycling, there are a few technical specifications that are essential in clothing and the first being the ability for fabrics to breathe. The feel of the fabric is also a notable difference with all A'qto Cycling clothing. Their range is impressive with riding kit, leisure wear and beautifully handcrafted leather bags.
