THE LINK BETWEEN COMPANY PERFORMANCE AND EMPLOYEE ATTITUDES
Having been in business now for 10 years, I certainly have had my fair share of employee attitudes.
It goes with the territory and it goes with my training as a Manager and ultimately leader of the organisation.
When it comes to the link between the company’s performance and employee attitudes, it becomes even more prevalent when you have a service business like Marketing Eye.
You may run a law, accounting, recruitment, real estate or marketing firm – and when the attitude of employees becomes an issue, it’s a sure bet that sales go down and employee loyalty – out the window.
What many companies fail to do is manage their employees expectations, engage them in the company’s overall direction and goals and encourage flexibility in the workplace to coincide with employees work/life balance.
Many big corporates give employees an option whereby they can take an additional 2 weeks off per year unpaid if they choose. What a great idea! In small business, this is impossible to achieve (or is it?).
5 Ways Small Businesses Can Change Employee Attitudes
- Communicate with employees regularly
- Share the company’s direction and goals with each and every employee – not just the sales team.
- Regularly conduct staff appraisals
- Have an open-door policy
- Make coming to work fun and exciting – it’s the little things that matter most like Tim Tams!
