A holiday is good for business
Now, that may not seem like a holiday to most people, but as an entrepreneur, having a holiday is more about letting my body relax and freeing my mind from any stresses. If ideas and innovations flow from being in this relaxed state, then jotting down some notes, really isn't too difficult at all.
Marketing in a pressure cooker for most business owners. But if you have ever read the 4 hour week book, then you probably are starting to be in tune with knowing that sometimes the best work you can do, isn't in the office. It's at the beach, walking through an airport, laying in bed at night or doing a session of pilates.
This week has taught me many things. I have read many business books, some good and some not so good! I have talked to friends about their businesses, where they are heading as individuals and what we all want out of life. Its been a great journey and an awakening in many ways, which at some stage I will share with you.
Marketing Eye is about to embark on a high-growth phase. That means we will be delivering more marketing services to more clients in Australia. Businesses that typically have no marketing department or have a marketing department that doesn't operate to its full potential.
Collaborating with these small businesses is instrumental for Marketing Eye's growth in the market. We don't want much... other than a BHAG of 500 clients over 18 months. This means great things for our business, but even better for our clients. We want to give MORE. More means many things to many people, but basically, we want to connect our clients to their clients through building a bigger network of businesses in which we work with. Importantly, we want to share ideas and negotiate better buying deals on behalf of our clients - reducing their cost of marketing and connecting them in a 'village' style approach.
Training is our biggest investment moving forward and working with the right people. That means that every week, our marketing managers will be updating their marketing skills. We have to be ahead of the curve, not following what other people are doing with their clients marketing spend.
What this means for small business.. a lot! Small businesses will receive a more strategic approach to customer connection and understanding, a partner in marketing that doesn't just charge fees, but connects them to like minded individuals and shares resources amongst multiple clients keeping the cost of marketing down and giving them an ability to use many of these funds in other areas of the business like product development and hiring the right people.
You will hear more on this in the coming weeks, but sitting at Frankfurt Airport, I thought I would share with my very loyal readers, just how important a good holiday can be for your business.
In the upcoming weeks, this marketing blog will also share with you our own campaigns and the results we receive from them.
