Watch and learn... how your clients can teach you more than you realize
The Bond Street Group is a company that provides private and public institutions advice and support in enhancing outcomes through leadership, strategy, people and equity effectiveness. Their team is made up of senior professionals that have excelled in their given fields.
The area that stands out most in this business is its business turnaround practice. Over the years I have seen many small and medium sized businesses fall into financial strife and either go down or rebuild their operations. For the business owner or CEO of a company in this position, it is a very hard time. I have seen grown men cry because their business is failing, marriages break up and people have nervous breakdowns.
As any business owner can attest, running a company is not easy and there is so many factors to consider. We are expected to be good at everything or at the very least capable of employing others that are good at everything, but no-one is perfect and every single person in business or otherwise have their shortfalls.
Listening to the interaction in the marketing workshop, it become apparent that:
a) Smart people have something to contribute even though it may not be their particular area of expertise
b) Understanding a business is not rocket science, so don't treat it as such
c) Communication is everything and every single person in the organisation needs to invest in improving their skills in this area
d) Strong leadership and direction backed by a business plan and marketing strategy is key to success
e) Collaboration and partnerships are beneficial to growth if nurtured
Bond Street Group is run by business turnaround specialist, Daryl Wright. He travels the world working with companies, restructuring their organisation and working people to turn businesses around. If I was ever in the situation that I needed assistance in this area, I couldn't think of a more professional company to go to. They understand people first, business second. Some would say, you cannot have one without the other. I agree.
