Is fear holding you back from what you're meant to do?
I discovered quite by accident what I was meant to do with my career... and ironically having a baby is to thank for that! Despite the perception amongst young women in business that having babies will ruin their career, I actually think we have a lot to thank the baby making machinery for....!
If I hadn't left my well paid corporate role as Advertising Manager with Bunnings 10 years ago to have my second baby, I would never have been inspired to start Scorch Marketing, the successful Marketing company that I ran in Perth for 8 years. Scorch started with one client and grew to many SME's through hard work, persistence and the desire to share what I knew about Retail Marketing. I wanted to make a difference to as many people as possible, and do it on my own terms and by my own rules (whilst also being able to watch the sport carnivals, school assemblies and go on excursions with my kids!)
How many very successful female entreprenuers do we have in Australia that started something new to spend more time with their families??
Fast forward to 2015 and there have been some major life changes ... a move across the country to Melbourne for my ex-husbands career, a new life with my 3 kids in the wonderful community in Camberwell, and a new business to grow and nurture.
I think it is fate that I came to meet Mellissah Smith and join her team at Marketing Eye. A funny story - we were introduced through my ex husbands new partner, who is also a successful business woman, not to mention a beautiful lady that I get along well with.
They say every cloud has a silver lining... and my new venture with Marketing Eye is certainly that!
So now I have the opportunity to help many more retail businesses with their Marketing, and I'm so excited to get started. I've been blessed to have some amazing clients over the years, many who have been with me from the beginning. Like the Jupps group who are the cornerstone of the floor-covering industry in North-west WA, who I still work very closely with ....many kilometres away!
If there's one thing I know about being a small business owner - you want to get on with what you do best. And for most business owners, Marketing is not their core business, or something they have a lot of expertise in. So that is where I come in to the picture. I've spent the last 8 years being an outsourced marketing manager for small & medium business owners - executing strategy, keeping up with technology, managing social media, the lot. And now I have the privilege of doing what I do best, with a team that have proved they ARE the best in Australia.
The future is looking bright indeed!
